The Nigerian star began the season with a Diamond League meet in Shanghai, where she won third place, then she placed second in Xiamen before claiming victory in Rabat. Following these performances, she won the women’s 100m hurdles at the New Taipei Athletics Open in a meet-record time of 12.72 seconds. In May 2026, she won her third consecutive African Championship title in Accra, Ghana.
These victories reaffirmed Amusan’s status as one of the world’s best sprinters and athletes. She is expected to defend her 100 metres hurdles title in the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, which will take place from Thursday, 23 July to Sunday, 2 August 2026.
