Dr Dorcas Akanbi, a newly inducted medical doctor at Rostov State Medical University in Russia, has graduated with an outstanding cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.90 out of 5.00 to emerge as one of the institution’s best graduating students. Her feat was shared online on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Dr Dorcas Akanbi is a student of the University of Lagos who relocated to Russia to continue her education at Rostov State Medical University, where she majored in Evidence-Based Medicine and Epidemiology for seven years.
At the end of her programme, she graduated with a “Red Diploma,” a prestigious Russian equivalent of a First Class Honours degree, reserved exclusively for students with perfect or near-perfect grades throughout their academic journey.
Her exceptional academic feat also earned her the opportunity to deliver the valedictory speech to an audience of faculty members, university officials, peers, and families, speaking fully in fluent Russian. Her speech focused on medicine being a service to humanity and expressed deep gratitude to African parents waiting back home.
“I have finally been inducted into the medical profession! One of the BGS with a CGPA of 4.90/5.00. From Unilag to Russia, God did it! Dr Akanbi, the promising doctor, expressed in her post.”
