Jediel Sylvester, a resident of Adamawa State, has been arrested and remanded in a correctional facility by an Upper Area Court in Ganye Local Government Area of the state after pleading guilty to repeatedly defiling and impregnating his biological daughter. He was remanded by the presiding judge, Hon. Kabiru Musa, on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The case is registered under case No. UACG/NO1/CR/FI/113/26 and was filed by the victim and her uncle, Mohammed Audi, through their Counsel, Abdulrahman Njidda Esq., brought pursuant to section 111 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Adamawa State 2018.
According to reports, Sylvester routinely beat, threatened, and intimidated the victim into having sexual intercourse with her. This abuse resulted in a three-month pregnancy that was confirmed at a medical facility. The victim alleged that the suspect pressured her to falsely accuse someone else of the pregnancy, but she refused. The suspect suggested that the pregnancy be aborted, but he was told that the pregnancy had reached 3 months and it was dangerous to attempt to abort it.
During the proceedings, the presiding judge ordered the suspect to be remanded to a correctional centre, and the case was adjourned to a later date.
