Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya Resumes as NBA President

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb, has officially begun her tenure as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association, marking her first day in office with a tour of NBA House alongside her predecessor, Afam Osigwe SAN, and an interactive meeting with staff of the National Secretariat. She is the first woman to hold the position in the NBA’s history.

In a post shared on her official Facebook account on September 1, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya described her first day as beginning not with ceremony but with continuity, stating that her predecessor walked her through the National Secretariat and introduced her to members of staff before handing over. 

“Leadership is not the moment you receive the baton. It is what you do with it after you receive it,” she said.

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, with decades of experience in legal practice and arbitration. She was elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association, making history as the first woman to lead the association since its founding. Her election was announced at the NBA’s Annual General Conference in August 2026, where she defeated her opponent in a keenly contested election.

Her first day in office included an interactive session with National Secretariat staff, during which she stated that her administration would begin translating its vision into concrete action.
