Summary
Nollywood veteran actress Tina Mbah urged colleagues to prioritise their careers and seek no societal validation.
In a recent episode of Lights, Camera—It’s My Turn, Veteran Nollywood actress Tina Mbah urges her colleagues in the entertainment industry to prioritise their careers, stay true to themselves, and choose supportive life partners.
She emphasised that marriage should not be a platform to compromise one’s career; rather, there should be open conversations about career aspirations. She pointed out that there are signs of an unsupportive spouse, so couples should sign an undertaking that affirms unwavering support and understanding for each other’s career growth and aspirations.
Narrating her experience as an example, Tina encouraged self-love and individuality among her female colleagues as she described herself as an “antique babe.”
She said, “Marriage is important, but nobody put a gun to my head or to your head to do it. There are so many people in this world. If this didn’t work, another may. You will meet a soul mate, someone who will be supportive. Just be true to yourself. Don’t go for the dazzles; be an antique babe like me.”
She also encouraged women to embrace their uniqueness, love themselves deeply, and seek validation from within, not society.
