After Viral Video, Police Arrest Three Suspects over Employee Abuse

Summary

Following the viral video where business owner Chidiebere Onu ordered the assault of an employee over a theft allegation, the police have arrested him and two other suspects to serve justice.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Jan. 13, 2024,  the Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the arrest of three suspects in relation to the assault of an employee.

According to reports Chidiebere Onu suspected one of his employees of theft. He and other men then decided to publicly flog her while other people watched and recorded. Following the incidence, Nigerians condemned the action, while the police arrested those involved.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, Ben Hundeyin assured Nigerians that justice will be served. He also added that efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim. 

“Three suspects have been arrested, while efforts are being made to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim. The Commissioner of Police @LagosPoliceNG, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, assures Lagosians that justice will be served,” he said.
