Actress and comedian Princess Damilola Adekoya has strongly condemned actress and podcaster Biola Adebayo for interviewing Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, a convicted rapist. Princess accused Biola of insensitivity and causing deliberate pain to the family of a child sexual assault survivor.
Princess, whose foster daughter was the Survivor in the Baba Ijesha case, took to Instagram on March 24, 2026, to criticise Biola in a lengthy video, questioning how a self-described rape survivor could give a platform to a convicted sex offender to attack the victim’s family.
She asked, rhetorically, how Biola would feel if the person who assaulted her years ago publicly questioned her integrity and her family. Princess noted that the interview was motivated by self-interest, prioritising views and traffic over the welfare of the survivor and her family.
“Since it’s not you and it’s not your child, it’s okay. Since it’s for views and it’s for money, it’s okay. Since it’s something that will bring people to your page, to your channel, it’s okay. You didn’t stop to think that the child in question is the child of a colleague and an acquaintance,” she said.
Princess disclosed that she and her family have faced sustained online harassment since the interview aired, describing relentless trolling, insults, and threatening messages. She also added that the podcaster had no justification for publishing the interview without prior consultation.
“Nobody puts a gun to your head that you should upload that video. You have my number. We have spoken on the phone,” Princess said.
The controversy followed a wave of public criticism after Biola Adebayo aired the episode of her podcast, Talk To B, featuring Baba Ijesha. In the interview, the convicted rapist claimed he was ‘set up’ despite being caught on camera and made references to the survivor’s family.
Baba Ijesha, whose real name is Olanrewaju James, was convicted by a Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja on July 14, 2022, for sexual assault and indecent treatment of a 14-year-old girl, the foster daughter of Princess. He was sentenced to five and three years’ imprisonment, to run concurrently, and his name was added to the Lagos Sexual Offenders Register.
The Lagos State Ministry of Justice later clarified that he was not acquitted of any offences following his release.
Biola responded by apologising, deleting the interview from her page, and emphasising that the interview was not intended to exonerate the actor or undermine his conviction.
