Aisha Yesufu facilitates the revamp of the Government Secondary School in Chibok, where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram in 2014. Calling the attention of Peter Obi to the deplorable conditions, the presidential aspirant donated money, laptops, and other resources to the school.
Aisha Yesufu has facilitated a major intervention at the Government Secondary School in Chibok after uncovering the poor state of learning conditions at the school. During a recent visit, she discovered that the school, where over 200 girls were abducted by Boko Haram in 2014, had no electricity, no functional science laboratories, and just one desktop computer serving over 2,500 students.
According to Aisha Yesufu, the school is still in a state of neglect more than a decade later. With over 2,500 students, the entire school has just one desktop computer. There is no electricity. No functional laboratories. No proper infrastructure to support learning.
Alarmed by the situation, she reached out to Peter Obi. In response, Peter Obi said he initially wanted to visit the school but was advised against it due to security concerns. Aisha Yesufu then arranged a meeting between him and members of the Chibok community in Abuja.
This meeting prompted immediate support that led to the donation of laptops, printers, solar-powered lighting, and ₦6 million to improve facilities.
At the meeting, Peter Obi presented the community with 10 laptops and three printers, and donated ₦2 million each to support the computer classroom, the science laboratory, and a handheld motorised borehole, totalling ₦6 million.
