Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State honoured Ms. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a health worker from Anambra, with a fully furnished house for her dedication and service during the Boko Haram insurgency.
Ms. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a health worker from Anambra State, has been rewarded with a fully furnished two-bedroom house by the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum. The governor also offered a job to her son in recognition of her dedication and service during the Boko Haram insurgency.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held on October 7, 2025, in Mafa Local Government Area, where 72 teachers and health workers received housing allocations.
Presenting the house keys, Governor Zulum praised Ms. Marbel for her exceptional commitment, noting that she had served at the Mafa Primary Healthcare Centre for over 24 years without abandoning her post, even at the height of insurgency in the region.
“Mrs. Duaka has been working here for over two decades and never left Mafa for a single month. During the Boko Haram crisis, when most people fled, she remained. She even treated my family members, including my mother,” the governor said.
He directed that the house allocation letter be issued in her name and announced automatic employment for her son, Anthony, a graduate of Banking and Finance, at the state-owned Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri.
Ms. Marbel expressed her gratitude, describing the gesture as the happiest moment of her life.
“Today is the happiest day for me because His Excellency has honoured and appreciated my work in Mafa. I am truly grateful,” she said.
