The Russia BRICS chapter of the Women's Business Alliance has revealed plans to open a regional office in Nigeria in accordance with its commitment to support Nigerian women entrepreneurs. The group also donated 1,000 labour and delivery kits in support of the country’s maternal health.  

The Russia chapter of the BRICS Women Business Alliance, has revealed plans to open a regional office in Nigeria as part of its efforts to enhance women entrepreneurship and strengthen economic cooperation across BRICS African regions. The group also donated  1000 labour and delivery kits to Nigeria to support maternal health and stronger people-to-people ties. 

BRICS is a geopolitical and economic forum for leading emerging economies that focus on enhancing economic and security. The five member countries include: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Nigeria joined as a partner country in January, 2025. 

The BRICS Women’s Business Alliance is an independent business-focused initiative under the broader BRICS umbrella. 

During the interactive session held on September 30, 2025. The group representatives together with dignitaries like Honourable Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister Imaan Suliaman-Ibrahim, Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and among others, discussed women’s empowerment and digital literacy to healthcare and social impact. 

The session further reinforced Nigeria’s role as Africa’s gateway and the importance of women’s and youth in driving inclusive growth. 

“The ultimate goal of the Women’s Business Alliance is not just meetings, but actions. It’s a separate body and every member of each national chapter reports on the results of what we did”, said Anna Nestrova, the representatives lead.
