Call for Applications

In Nigeria, feminists use digital platforms to organise, document human rights violations, mobilise communities, and advocate for gender equality. However, these same platforms have become spaces where they experience harassment, cyberattacks, and other forms of technology-facilitated gender-based violence designed to frustrate their activism.

As part of our commitment to promoting gender equality and mainstreaming feminism, Naija Feminists Media invites feminists based in Lagos to apply for a one-day convening on digital safety for women human rights defenders.

Benefits

The convening covers training on social media security, secure browsing and internet censorship circumvention, computer hygiene, and data encryption, giving participants practical tools to protect themselves and their organisations online, while also engaging safely in online activism. The workshop gains include:

• Increase feminists’ knowledge of social media security, secure browsing, and computer hygiene to promote advocacy
• Practical, hands-on digital safety skills that participants can apply immediately to their personal and organisational accounts, and feminist activism
• Peer learning and gamified session on feminists’ digital experiences and safety strategy
• Networking with other women human rights defenders
• Logistics reimbursement 

Eligibility

Women human rights defenders residing in Lagos aged between 18–40 are eligible to apply. We encourage leaders of women-led organisations, feminist journalists, and active feminists, including women with disabilities, to apply.
