Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General of Lagos State, has expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for establishing the Lagos State Market Advisory Council (LASMAC).
The Council, inaugurated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on June 23, 2025, at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, was set up to improve market systems and champion traders’ rights.
“Our markets are at the heart of life in Lagos. They support the livelihoods of millions of Lagosians and play a key role in keeping our economy strong. That’s why we’re making their development, security, and sustainability a top priority,” the Lagos State governor stated.
LASMAC is to serve as a bridge between government agencies and the market community. The initiative is expected to promote fair policies, improved infrastructure, and a safer trading environment for millions of traders, especially women, who form the backbone of Lagos’ informal economy.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed that, with the leadership of the Iyaloja-General, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, “LASMAC is set to make real progress” and advised for fairness and the centeredness of people’s interests.
Affirming her commitment to the initiative, Chief Folashade pledged to ensure that traders’ voices are heard and their interests represented in shaping market policies. She added that the council will work diligently to improve market operations, enhance security, and promote fair trade practices that allow businesses to thrive.
