British-Nigerian rapper and singer Darkoo was one of the top winners at the 2025 MOBO Awards, securing two major wins: Best Female Act and Song of the Year for her hit single Favourite Girl featuring Dess Dior.

Darkoo emerged victorious in the Best Female Act category, beating strong contenders Cleo Sol, Jorja Smith, Little Simz, Nia Archives, and Raye.

For Song of the Year, Favourite Girl triumphed over tough competition, including Central Cee feat. Lil Baby – Band4band, Leostaytrill – Pink Lemonade, Chase & Status, Stormzy – Backbone

Her wins mark another milestone for female artists dominating the music industry both locally and internationally.

Other major wins at the ceremony included Ayra Starr, who took home Best African Act and Best International Act, making history as the first woman in 16 years to win the Best African Act award.

In the Best Gospel Act category, Annatoria claimed victory, surpassing nominees Imrhan, Limoblaze, Reblah, Still Shadey, and Volney Morgan & New Ye.

The MOBO Awards, founded in 1996, continue to celebrate the best in Black music, honouring artists across genres such as hip-hop, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music.
