An X user with the handle @chef_pearl4 has taken to social media to seek public support and narrate the ordeal of her 72-year-old father, who was brutally assaulted in Warri, Delta State. Her post have garnered significant attention, amassing 1.4 million views, 9355 likes, and 1,617 reposts.
The incident reportedly stemmed from the assailant’s belief that the man, having only daughters, was vulnerable to attack.
In her post, she recounted how the attacker broke her father’s hand with a piece of wood, slapped him twice in his own compound, and killed his dog. The victim was rushed to Warri Central Hospital, later transferred to another hospital, and is now scheduled for surgery. Doctors revealed that his lungs were affected, his bones shattered, and only a vein is holding his hand in place. The assailant fled upon the arrival of the police but was eventually arrested.
Speaking to Naija Feminist media, she revealed,
“This happened in Warri, Delta State. I was at home on Monday when I got a call from my younger sister crying that someone beat up my dad and told him to go call his children and that’s because he knows my mother doesn’t have a son..”
She added that while the man is in custody, his family has been pleading for forgiveness, offering no financial support for the mounting medical expenses.
The family is appealing for justice as they face the physical and emotional toll of the attack. “
