HopeForHer, a non-governmental organisation, donated over 2,000 sanitary pads to female students in the Comprehensive Secondary School in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Month, HopeForHer, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with Ugoeze Ijeoma Nwokoma, donated sanitary pads to 500 girls at Comprehensive Secondary School, Umuokanne, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State.
Chiamaka Enyia, the founder of HopeForHer, acknowledged that the initiative was rooted in her struggle growing up without access to menstrual hygiene products after the loss of her mother.
She explained further that the Pad Bank has over 2,000 sanitary pads, including a tracking system to monitor distribution and ensure it supports more than 500 schoolgirls.
“I realised that many young girls miss school simply because they lack access to menstrual products. Our Pad Bank initiative is about more than just providing pads–it’s about dignity, education, and equality”.
“HopeForHer is committed to empowering women and girls by addressing systemic barriers such as period poverty and the lack of menstrual health education,” she said.
The event was graced by the traditional ruler of Umuokanne community, His Royal Highness, Eze Mattew Nwokoma, and other dignitaries who endorsed the initiative.
