Lagos DSVA, in partnership with Tolaram, educated over 350 Power Oil staff on workplace harassment during a two-day International Women’s Day conference, emphasising safe work environments and the importance of reporting harassment.
In commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) partnered with Tolaram to educate Power Oil staff on preventing workplace harassment. The initiative, themed “Accelerate Action,” was part of a two-day virtual conference to foster safer work environments and advance gender equality.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of DSVA, highlighted the importance of creating inclusive workplaces where employees are protected from harassment and discrimination.
The sensitisation session engaged over 350 Power Oil employees across 11 locations, with nine staff members attending physically and 102 joining virtually as individuals. The interactive session encouraged employees to ask questions and share insights while DSVA distributed educational materials on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, including its toll-free helpline for victims seeking support.
Mrs. Oni Tumininu, Head of Case Management at DSVA, discussed various forms of workplace harassment, its impact, and preventive measures in depth. She also outlined support services available to survivors.
Expressing gratitude for the session, Ms. Chidinma Okonkwo, Head of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department at Power Oil, emphasised the importance of reporting harassment to management or the Human Resources department. She encouraged employees to be bold and courageous in speaking up against any form of harassment.
The partnership between DSVA and Tolaram underscores the importance of continuous advocacy and education in fostering harassment-free workplaces.
