Modupe Mary Akinduro – Educationist and Entrepreneur

  1. Why did you decide to participate in this pageant?

I joined this pageant to advocate for university education among youths with albinism. My goal is to increase the number of young people with albinism who see higher education as a priority and a pathway to success.

  1. What misconception about albinism would you like to change?

One major misconception is that persons with albinism cannot see. The truth is, we are not blind—we have low vision. With the right support, persons with albinism can learn, graduate, and excel in any profession or career they choose.

  1. What message or advice do you have for young girls with albinism?

My advice is: never let barriers stop you from pursuing your dreams. Prioritise your education and believe in yourself. If I could go to the university and become a biology teacher without parental support, then you too can achieve anything you set your mind to.

  1. What goals are you working toward in the next five years?

In the next five years, my goal is to see more youths with albinism graduating from universities, securing meaningful jobs, and living with dignity—so that truly, no one is left behind.

Nigeria’s first Albinism Advocacy Pageant, organised by Misty Glam Company (MGC), will take place on September 13, 2025, in Lagos. For partnerships or sponsorships, contact MGC via email at hello@mistyglamcompany.com or WhatsApp at 0704 870 4115.
