The First Lady of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has condemned the brutal murder of Ms. Modupe Alasin of Efon Alaaye local government, who was killed by her husband. According to the police, her husband beats her till death.
According to reports, on August 27, Mr Alasin in Efon-Ekiti, Ekiti State, beat his wife to death for coming late to the farm.
In response to the death of Modupe, Dr Olayemmi called for an end to gender based violence on September 3, 2025.
“This cruel act is a painful reminder of the urgent need to end all forms of gender-based violence in our society,” she wrote.
“No woman’s life should be cut short by violence,” Dr. Olayemi took decisive action, directing the Ekiti State GBV Management Committee to intensify preventive interventions, strengthen survivor support services, and expand sensitisation campaigns across every community.
Dr. Olayemi also issued a direct charge to the Ekiti State Police Command, urging them to ensure swift and impartial justice.
“To every woman or girl feeling unsafe: your voice matters, and help is available. Let us all speak up, report abuse, and stand united to end this menace,” she said.
