Summary

The International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) organised a walkathon against violence toward women. This event also featured the declaration of World Postpartum Haemorrhage Day. 

As part of its mission statement of being a global voice for women’s health, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), organised a walkathon against violence toward women. The March took place on October 6, 2025, at Cape Town, South Africa, as part of the organisation’s ongoing XXV FIGO world congress.

The walkathon themed, “Say NO to violence against women,” raised awareness of gender violence, advocated for gender equality, and encouraged active community participation. It drew the presence of health professionals, global leaders, and advocates who promote and  support women’s rights and safety. The event also featured the declaration of World Postpartum Haemorrhage Day on Oct.5. 

For five years, the FIGO has led a series of walkathons that stand against violence against women. These walkathons had served as a platform to provide accurate details on women’s rights, emphasised the essential roles health care professionals can play, and provide support services, counselling, shelter for victims.
