Friends Mourn as Corps Member Lovina Bamaiye Dies Six Days After Camp Arrival

Lovina Bamaiyi Ajegena, a corps member of the National Youth Service Corps, has  died six days after she arrived at the orientation camp of the agency at Maiduguri, Borno State. She died on Monday, April 27, 2026, after a serious illness. 

According to Lovina’s colleague and friend, Augustine Pamela, who confirmed the sad incident on Facebook. Lovina became sick six days after arriving at the orientation camp. As a friend, she took care of her, but later fell sick. They were both admitted to the same hospital, but Lovina’s sickness got worse, and she often cried out in pain. Eventually, the crops member passed away.

“She would call out to me in pain and say thank you after every help I rendered to her. She would hold my hands firmly and refuse to let go, like she was trying her best to hold onto life itself,” her friend recalled.

NYSC is yet to react to the incident and the cause of death remains unknown.
