Nigerians have criticised celebrity stylist and fashion designer Abiodun Tokunbo, popularly known as Luminee, after she announced the birth of her child with actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, known as Baba Ijesha, who was convicted of child molestation.

On June 15, 2026, Luminee, the CEO of Anjy Luminee Couture, shared the announcement on Instagram, describing Baba Ijesha as “one in a million” and expressing her love for him while celebrating the arrival of their son.

The post sparked backlash online, with many Nigerians questioning her decision to have a child with a man convicted of sexually abusing a minor.

Among those who criticised the announcement was reality TV star, writer and poet Angel Agnes Smith, popularly known as Angel Smith.

Reacting in the comment section, Angel wrote: “How can you, as a woman, have a baby with this person knowing his crime? You had a child with someone who committed such a visceral crime against another child.”

Her comments were filled with concerns raised by many Nigerians who argued that choosing to have a child with a convicted child molester disregards the seriousness of violence against children.

Baba Ijesha was convicted in 2022 by a Lagos Special Offences Court for sexually assaulting a minor in a case that generated widespread public outrage and renewed conversations about child protection and accountability for perpetrators of sexual violence.

The backlash against Luminee comes months after Baba Ijesha had just been released from three years of imprisonment for sexual assault and registered as a sexual offender.
