Former Minister of Women Affairs Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has continued with her women’s empowerment project, stating that she must fulfil some of her promises while in office.

Recently, she visited Eucharia Ego Okpalannadi– a seamstress and mother of six– alongside the Senior Special Assistant to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Technical, Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Education (TVEE)  Abiola Arogundade

Uju shared that one of Eucharia’s husband raped one of their three children, who is a three-year-old, earlier in the year.

To support Eucharia, who has since left her husband, Uju provided her with a multi-purpose solar kiosk and cash so that she could make a living as a seamstress and offer charging services and POS services to members of her community.

“I have also bought her a machine for her to use with my own salary to be able to start her life and provide for her children.”

On Oct. 24, 2024, after her dismal as Minister of Women’s Affairs, Uju had affirmed in her letter of appreciation to Nigerians that she would continue to serve the country.

“To the people of Nigeria, I am deeply grateful for your unwavering support. Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration. I remain committed to serving my country and will continue to do my utmost to contribute to its progress and prosperity, she stated.”
