Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has recorded a major box-office success, as her latest film, Return of Arinzo, emerged as the highest-grossing movie over the Easter weekend in Nigeria. The film grossed N104.8 million in its opening weekend following its cinema debut on April 3, 2026, securing the top spot during the holiday period.
Return of Arinzo also set multiple records, including the highest-grossing Easter weekend performance in Nigerian cinema and the biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel. It currently ranks second for the 2026 opening weekend. The film was distributed by FilmOne Entertainment and received strong audience support across West Africa.
Announcing the milestone in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Iyabo Ojo expressed appreciation to fans for their support.
“Thank you, everyone, for the love you showed us. TROA opens with N104.8m, breaking multiple records in just one weekend. Highest-grossing Easter weekend performance, biggest opening for a Nollywood sequel. This was only possible because of you,” she wrote.
Return of Arinzo is a sequel to the 2013 Yoruba blockbuster Arinzo, which explored themes of crime and personal transformation. The original film was directed by Abiodun Olanrewaju and Muhydeen S. Ayinde, and featured a mix of Nollywood and Ghallywood actors.
