Kiki, Bisola, Iyabo Ojo, Others,  Secures Nomination at 2026 AMVCA.

Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori popularly known as Kiki, Bisola Aiyeola, and Iyabo Ojo have secured nominations at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, as the awards spotlight top performances and standout film projects across major categories.

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is a premier annual event presented by MultiChoice, honouring outstanding achievements in African film and television. Established in 2013, the awards cover various categories including acting, directing, cinematography and indigenous language films across Africa.

Leading the list is Iyabo Ojo, whose 2025 film Labake Olododo secured nominations in the Best Indigenous Language (West Africa) and Best Makeup categories. In the same category, Labake Olododo will compete alongside Behind The Scenes by Funke Akindele and Oversabi Aunty by Toyin Abraham, showing the strong presence of women in the industry. 

Other notable nominees include Bisola Aiyeola, whose film Gingerrr is among the top contenders this year. The project, produced by Bisola alongside Wumi Toriola, Bolaji Ogunmola, and Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori popularly known as Kiekie, secured nine nominations at the 2026 AMVCA.

The nominations also spotlight emerging talents. Content creator and actress Aliyat Olamide Salman, popularly known as  Kidbaby, earned her first nomination for her role in Oversabi Aunty, while Ariyike Owolagba received her first nod for Something About the Briggs. Actress Genoveva Umeh also secured her first Best Lead Actress nomination, marking a significant career milestone.

Veteran actress Sola Sobowale further stands out with nominations in both lead and supporting categories.

The 12th edition of the AMVCA, scheduled for May 9, 2026, in Lagos, will feature 32 award categories, including jury-decided and public voting segments, as well as special recognition awards such as the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer honours.

This year’s nominations reflects the growing influence and impact of Nigerian women in shaping Africa’s film and television industry.
