The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a landlord, Akong Henry, for reportedly assaulting and attacking his tenant, Rachael, in Abak Local Government Area of the state. The incident occurred on March 31, 2026, along Hospital Road and was reported to the police at about 6:45 p.m. by the victim.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, the landlord reportedly attacked the woman during a disagreement. Preliminary findings indicate that he armed himself with a sharp object and inflicted injuries on the victim’s head and left arm, resulting in significant blood loss.

Rachael noted that the assault occurred after she rejected the landlord’s advances. She was immediately evacuated to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Police operatives reportedly acted swiftly upon receiving the report, leading to the suspect’s arrest. Authorities confirmed that a thorough investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The police command condemned the act, warning against all forms of violence, particularly those capable of causing grievous bodily harm. It urged residents to adopt peaceful means of resolving disputes and to report grievances to appropriate authorities.
