In a cohort of 5,728 law graduates who made a historic record of being the largest new lawyers called to the bar, Maryam Lawal, a graduate of the Lagos State University (LASU), emerged as one of the top outstanding students. The 2025 call to bar ceremony was held in Abuja on July 10, 2025.
The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised Maryam Lawal’s exceptional academic feat as the best graduating female student and the second overall best student at the 2025 Nigerian call to bar ceremony.
Maryam, who graduated with First Class Honours at LASU and the Nigerian Law School received eight awards, including one for Corporate Law Practice. She is a double First Class Law degree holder and recognised top achiever in Nigeria’s legal education.
“This is the kind of excellence we celebrate in Lagos. Maryam represents the best of us in brilliance, hard work, and determination. Her success is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when talent meets discipline, and it speaks volumes about the quality of education at LASU,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
