Nigerian media personality and On-Air Personality (OAP), Mayowa Lambe, has officially served her ex-husband, Robert Ekpo (Roby), a cease-and-desist notice, demanding an immediate apology and ₦100 million in damages. This lawsuit occurred after he made a series of emotional public statements accusing Mayowa of infidelity and deception in their 11-year marriage.

In November 2015, Mayowa and Roby got married. They had a long-distance marriage with Mayowa living in the United States for six years while Roby remained in Nigeria. However, their union was annulled on May 11, 2025, and they went their separate ways. In April 2026, pictures surfaced online showing Mayowa married to David Ayuba in Texas, United States.

Reacting to her new marriage, Ekpo claimed he wasn’t aware of their divorce until he heard the news of her recent marriage. He also accused her of using contraceptives throughout their marriage while he was undergoing fertility tests. He claimed she prioritised cosmetic surgery over fertility treatments and was engaged in infidelity while in the U.S. All his claims were broadcast on the Honest Bunch podcast when he appeared as a guest.

Subsequently, Mayowa issued an official law notice through Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, an NGO that protects women’s and girls’ rights through its counselling support, rehabilitation, reintegration, and legal support.

“Your statement, presented as facts, includes numerous false allegations regarding infidelity, financial dependency,  moral character, and the existence of a marital relationship. These statements are not only untrue but appear calculated to mislead the public, attract attention, and generate sympathy at the expense of our client’s reputation,” part of the letter reads.

The letter states Mayowa possessed “extensive and verifiable evidence to counter Roby’s accusations.” It demands an immediate cease and desist from further publication or repetition of all defamatory statements,  removal of all existing defamatory contents across all platforms, and issue a clear, unqualified, and public retraction of all false statements. In addition, Roby must publish a full apology on the same platforms used for the defamation and pay the sum of N100, 000, 000 in damages.

The letter concluded with a 3-day ultimatum to meet all the demands. Failure to adhere to it will result in dire consequences.

In response to the cease-and-desist notice, Robert described her demand as excessive, unfounded and premature. He rejected the notice through his lawyers at TAP Legal Services and posted it on his official Instagram handle on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
