The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, alongside the Executive Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has officially commissioned the Bokwosayi Women Rice Processing Factory in Gwachipe, Gurara Local Government Area, Niger State on Dec. 18, 2024
This landmark initiative, part of the Nigeria for Women Project (NFWP), is designed to empower women by equipping them with the resources needed to succeed in agriculture and business. The factory, a collaborative effort between the Federal Government, the World Bank, and the Niger State Government, is equipped with integrated childcare facilities, removing a significant barrier to women’s economic participation.
During her remarks, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasised the transformative impact of such initiatives on gender equality and economic inclusion. “When women succeed, families thrive, communities flourish, and nations prosper,” she stated, lauding the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for their unwavering commitment to advancing women’s empowerment.
Governor Bago, while speaking, also highlighted the factory’s role in boosting local rice production and creating economic opportunities for women in Niger State. He urged continued support for projects that enhance women’s livelihoods and drive sustainable development.
