Naija Feminists Media (NFM) will host an X Space titled Defending Digital Rights and Resisting Online Censorship on Friday, March 20, 2026, as part of activities to commemorate the World Day Against Cyber Censorship.
Held annually on March 12, the World Day Against Cyber Censorship promotes a free, open, and accessible internet for all. Established in 2009, it raises awareness about government-imposed restrictions, censorship, and digital rights violations, while urging global action to combat the suppression of dissent and protect freedom of expression online.
The conversation will focus on understanding online censorship as a gendered issue, exploring how platforms and state actors disproportionately silence women, feminist activists, and journalists, and highlighting the lived realities of those navigating digital repression.
The event will feature journalist Ogeyi Ebinyi, co-founder of Save the Girl Child Initiative Omotuemen Favour, cybersecurity professional Gbemisola Esho, and women’s rights advocate Oluwafunmbi Ogunsola. They will share practical strategies for resisting censorship, protecting activists online, and strengthening legal protections for feminist voices, while advocating for a safer and more inclusive digital space for all.
Join the conversation by 5:00 PM on March 20, 2026 and be part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen digital rights and protect women and girls online.
