  1. Facebook removes Nigerian surrogacy groups, after investigation

Facebook has clamped down on surrogacy groups in Nigeria, following the investigation into how Facebook, misinformation, and legal loopholes throw Nigerian women into the surrogacy ditch.

The report, published on Sept 27, 2025, projects the experience of surrogates in Nigeria who are at the receiving end of exploitative practices and severe health implications. It exposes human rights violations, particularly how surrogate agents lure women into surrogacy by weaponising misinformation, utilising Facebook for advertising, and leveraging legal loopholes to implement the practice.

  1. BBNaija Housemate Faith Disqualified for Violence Against Women

Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Faith Adewale, has been disqualified from the reality show for physically assaulting fellow contestant, Sultana. The decision was announced by Biggie on October 2, 2025, after an emergency meeting was convened in the main lounge. 

As a result, he forfeits all winnings, exits the house through the back door, and is denied post-show interview privileges.

Nigerian journalist and lawyer Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, fondly known as Sommie, was killed during an armed robbery at her Abuja residence. Her tragic death sparked widespread grief and outrage, intensifying calls for justice and better security in the country.

  1. Minister Imaan Suliaman-Ibrahim Launches Empowerment Fund For Women

Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development launched a Oluwo Hope Initiative Women Empowerment Fund. This Programme will empower 50,000 women with financial assistance and support systems.
