Esther stated that she returned from a business trip to Vietnam to discover her husband had taken her house documents and fled, adding that he and his cousin, Ugo Oguzie Gladson, assaulted her and she is currently hospitalised.

The arrest followed the survivor’s courageous report to authorities, which included recorded evidence of Obetule grooming her and arranging a meeting for sexual purposes.
