A Nigerian Lebanese woman has raised an alarm over rising cases of rape, murder, and victim-blaming in the country, condemning the culture of victim-blaming.
A Nigerian-Lebanese woman has expressed anger over persistent violence, rape, and victim-blaming occurring in Nigeria on October 1, 2025. On X, a user with the handle @lilacandpinkk said women in Nigeria continue to face sexual violence and killings while perpetrators receive praise.
“Women are raped, murdered, and silenced daily; while rapists are praised and survivors shamed,” she wrote.
She added that feminism is still treated as an insult in 2025, with advocates branded as evil witches and whores. She further condemned the culture of victim-blaming, noting that society often blames women for their own deaths while families grieve.
“We continue to pray for light while burying our daughters and blaming them for their own death,” the tweet read.
She stated that women cannot rely on so-called protectors who sometimes commit violence themselves. “How can they save us when they kill us?” she asked.
