Super Falcons defender and Ondo state indigene, Tosin Demehin, has been gifted N30 million and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile, by the Ondo state governor, Luck Aiyedatiwa, for her outstanding performance at the just-concluded 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Governor made this known during the civic reception in Akure in honour of the Ondo state indigenes who were part of the victorious Super Falcons.
“This is a proud moment for us. Tosin Demehin has made Ondo state proud on the continental stage. As a token of our appreciation, the state government is awarding her N30 million and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile,” he said.
He also gifted the team’s media officer, Mary Akinsola, and the team’s secretary, Mary Oduboku, N15 million each for their supportive roles in the Super Falcons’ historic win. Both sports stars are Ondo Indigenes who hail from the southern part of the state.
Reacting to this, “Receiving this honour from my home state means the world to me. As a former Sunshine Queens player, I know there is a massive potential in women’s football here. This support gives hope to many young girls with dreams like mine.”
She also urged the government to take collective responsibility for the Nigerian football teams.
