Pastor Foluke Adenike Adeboye has been appointed Chancellor of Caleb University, following her conferment with an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honouris Causa) at the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony. A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, she is known for her involvement in education, youth mentorship and family counselling.

The appointment was announced after the convocation, held on February 18, 2026, and her formal appointment as Chancellor took effect on February 21, 2026. Just as in traditional universities, the role of Chancellor is more than just a title. The Chancellor presides over convocations, confers degrees, protects the institution’s values and traditions, and provides moral guidance to its leadership and direction.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the development as significant for the institution’s growth and direction. According to the statement issued by the university’s Information, Media and Publication Specialist, Olawale Adekoya, the conferment and subsequent appointment of the cleric represent a convergence of scholarship and sanctity and a blend of intellectual excellence with spiritual authority in university governance.

“As decades, she has functioned not merely as consort to a global spiritual leader, but as an institutional builder, a counsellor of nations, and a matriarch whose disciplined grace has fortified one of the world’s largest Christian movements,” the statement reads, expressing confidence that her leadership and experience would strengthen the university’s values.

The Registrar, Mr Mayokun Olumeru, also described the appointment as an honour for the institution, referring to her as a guardian of values and a steady moral compass in turbulent times.

During the 15th convocation ceremony, the university graduated 1,924 students, including 96 First Class graduates and 22 doctoral degree recipients.
