The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has formally declared her intention to seek re-election for a second term. This move signals early political mobilisation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the district.

Her declaration was made on April 27, 2026, during a Kogi Central PDP stakeholders’ meeting, which brought together party leaders, supporters and key actors from across the five local government areas of the senatorial district.

The development was also disclosed in a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mike Idoko. Addressing the gathering, Senator Natasha said her decision followed months of consultations and sustained appeals from constituents and party faithful.

The announcement follows a wave of endorsements from grassroots leaders and supporters over the past few months, signalling growing backing for her return bid. The lawmaker also used the occasion to emphasise the need for unity within the PDP, warning that internal divisions could weaken the party’s chances in future contests.

ā€œThis is the time to bring everyone back home. We must reconcile with those who may have had one issue or another, for the betterment of our party and the success of our elections ahead,ā€ she said.

Kogi Central has become a highly competitive political district in recent elections. This makes early declarations like this an important strategy ahead of the next general elections.
