Uju Okeke, a high-ranking officer and Superintendent of Police, has made history as the first female commander of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base 10 in Enugu State. Her promotion was officially made public on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
SP Uju is a prominent public official widely recognised for using her online platform to advocate for better relations between the public and police officers. She is a highly combat-tested officer who regularly oversees special tactical operations and active counter-terrorism deployments across Enugu State. The Nigerian Police Force officially confirmed that she was selected for and completed elite operational warfare and tactical training in Belarus.
In reaction to her achievement, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) described her as a trailblazing, strong, and fearless leader.
“She is one of the very few women chosen to lead a tactical counter-terrorism operational base in the country,” the force says.
The Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Base 10 Enugu is a heavily armed, elite strike formation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). It functions as a specialised, rapid-response combat force rather than a conventional policing unit. As the appointed head of this tactical base, Officer Uju’s responsibilities include overseeing tactical operations, anti-kidnapping raids, and active counter-terrorism deployments across the state.
