“The killing is too much. God, where are you? We have cried to you, we can’t do it alone,” she said.
Several people are feared dead, with many others injured, after suspected gunmen attacked the Gari Ya Waye community in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North.
According to eyewitnesses, it was reported that the assailants stormed the area and opened fire on unsuspecting residents before fleeing the scene. The attack occurred on March 29, 2026.
Security personnel, including the Nigerian Army, reportedly arrived at about 8:45 p.m. to restore order and secure the community.
Casualty figures from other affected areas remain unclear, as some victims were evacuated during the attack, while others were taken to nearby mortuaries.
In response to the violence, the Plateau State Government imposed a 48-hour curfew across Jos North, effective from midnight on March 29 through April 1, 2026, to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
The latest incident has raised concerns about insecurity in Plateau State and across the northern region, where repeated attacks continue to take lives.
