Summary: Toyin Abraham’s Oversabi Aunty has crossed N700 million at the box office within 18 days of release, earning N711.5 million and becoming the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa.
The Nollywood film Oversabi Aunty, produced and directed by actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham, has emerged as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa after crossing the N700 million mark at the box office.
The film achieved the milestone within 18 days of its cinema release, grossing N711.5 million, according to figures released on January 5, 2026 by its official distributor, FilmOne Entertainment.
In a statement shared on Instagram, FilmOne credited strong audience turnout across the region for the film’s success. “West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed N711.5M, making it the 4th highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time in West Africa,” the distributor wrote.
With the new ranking, Oversabi Aunty has displaced Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street (2022) and Omo Ghetto: The Saga (2020), which previously grossed over N660 million and N630 million respectively.
Reacting to the achievement, Toyin Abraham expressed gratitude to fans and moviegoers, writing, “I may not have the perfect words, but my heart is full. Thank you, Lord, and thank you to every single person watching and supporting Oversabi Aunty. I am deeply grateful.”
Oversabi Aunty centres on a well-meaning but overly involved aunt whose attempts to solve everyone’s problems spiral into humourous misunderstandings, while revealing heartfelt truths. The film gained early momentum following an advanced screening on December 18, ahead of its nationwide cinema release on December 19, 2025.
The movie features a star-studded cast including Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Jemima Osunde, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Dike Osinachi (Kidbaby), Adebowale Adedayo (Adedamee) and Toyin Abraham.
The film had earlier recorded N380 million in box office earnings within its first 11 days in cinemas, further underscoring its strong commercial performance.
