Summary
A UK-based Nigerian woman, Mkpouto Pius, has offered to help expelled UNIZIK student Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious secure a scholarship abroad. Mkpouto revealed that the student's family fully supports her and dismissed claims that she is struggling after her expulsion.
Following the controversial expulsion of Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), UK-based Nigerian Mkpouto Pius has decided to support the student by offering her assistance in securing a scholarship abroad.
Mkpouto made this known on Facebook after a newly surfaced video provided another perspective on the altercation between the expelled student and the lecturer. She revealed that she had personally reached out to Precious and assured her of unwavering support.
Contrary to speculation that Precious is devastated, Mkpouto affirmed that she remains strong and that her family stands solidly behind her.
“As people are here shouting about how UNIZIK did a good thing expelling her and how she embarrassed her family, I spoke to the lady and:
1) The backstory is so different from the tiny clip circulating on social media.
2) The girl is not breaking down. She’s very fine.
3) Her family is solidly behind her.
4) When I offered to support her to find a scholarship abroad, she said, ‘Let me speak to my parents.’ A few minutes later, she returned to tell me they were on board with the idea.”
Mkpouto further stated that the university has been reaching out to Precious’ family, urging her to issue a public apology in exchange for reinstatement. “The university knows their lecturer harassed that girl. That’s why they are trying so hard to save face. They just want a public apology so that it looks like she acknowledged her wrong and they took her back,” she said.
She encouraged Precious and her family to reject the university’s demand, suggesting they take legal action instead.
“This would be the perfect opportunity to lawyer up and sue that school! Because that school definitely knows they have messed up by supporting the harassment of a student captured on tape. Go to court, and let’s argue self-defence and see if that lecturer would ever win that case.”
The new footage and Mkpouto’s intervention have reignited debate over the fairness of UNIZIK’s disciplinary actions. While some argue that the university is merely enforcing its rules, others believe the expulsion was unjust and that Precious deserves another opportunity for education.
