Summary

Former BBNaija housemate Uriel has cautioned against clout-chasing with the death of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor. She urged respect for the family’s grief and condemned the exploitation of personal tragedies for social media content.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Uriel has cautioned Nigerians against using the death of Phyna’s younger sister, Ruth Otabor, as content for clout on social media.

In a strongly worded post, Uriel criticised what she described as a lack of creativity among Nigerian content creators, saying many recycle the same ideas instead of innovating.

“That’s why there are a billion people doing the same thing, creating the same type of content, because nobody wants to think differently or innovate. Small-mindedness everywhere,” she wrote.

She went further to condemn those exploiting personal tragedies for their views. Uriel specifically warned against using Phyna’s sister’s death for clout and vowed to publicly call out anyone who does so:

“Let her mourn her sister in peace. Let her handle whatever she needs to handle privately with her family and the company. Not everything is a joke until it happens to you.”

Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, died on August 31, 2025, from injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck.

Phyna had earlier raised alarm over her sister’s condition, accusing the Dangote Group of failing to fulfil its promise to sponsor comprehensive treatment abroad and of shielding those responsible for the accident.
