While conceding to Trump as the 47th president of the US, Kamala Harris has urged her supporters to stay strong and continue to fight for their ideals. She reiterated that she was proud of her campaign.
The United States vice president and Presidential Candidate of the 2024 United States Elections, Kamala Harris, has conceded the elections, as her opponent Donald Trump won the polls. In a truly democratic manner, she urged Americans to accept the election result for a peaceful transition while mentioning that she had congratulated Donald.
“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, but hear me when I say: the light of America’s promise will always burn bright,” Kamala stated.
The USA Election 2024 took place on November 5 across different polling booths in the nation. Donald Trump was elected as the 47th president, with JD Vance as his vice.
Donald Trump won with 72,641,564 votes, a total of 295 and 50.9% of the votes from 27 states, including Pennsylvania, Florida, and Georgia. However, Kamala followed closely behind with 47.6% of the votes, a total of 67,956,895 votes and a score of 226. She had major votes from California, New York, Washington and 15 other states.
In her concession speech at Howard University, Kamala expressed gratitude to her supporters—many of whom were in tears—for trying their best and for putting up a fight.
While maintaining that it is okay to feel upset, she told the crowd that it is important to continue to fight until they win.
“To the young people who are watching, it is okay to feel sad and disappointed. But please know it’s going to be okay.” She said. “On the campaign, I’d often say when we fight we win. Sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win… don’t ever give up.”
“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign. The fight for freedom, opportunity, fairness, and dignity of all people,” Kamala added.
