Her death was announced by her ex-husband, Al-Amin Chiroma, through his Instagram handle. She died at the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) Hospital located in Kaduna State.
Wasila Isma’il was a prominent figure in the Hausa film industry, popularly known as Kannywood. She began her acting career in 1998 with the film “Jinin Masoya.” She became a household name across Northern Nigeria after playing the lead role in the 1999 movie ‘Wasila,’ directed by Yakubu Lere, alongside popular actor Ali Nuhu. Beyond acting, the Kannywood actress also worked as a broadcaster with Liberty Radio in Kaduna. She had her primary and secondary school certificates in Kaduna and later earned a diploma from Kaduna State Polytechnic.
