The 9th edition of the Voice of Women Conference and Awards, themed “Nigerian Women & The Power of Collective Action,” will take place in Abuja on October 2, 2025. The event will bring together leaders, policymakers, and grassroots women to advance women’s political leadership and empowerment ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a time when Nigerian women are amplifying a voice in governance and leadership, the Voice of Women Conference and Awards (VOW2025) is set to return with its 9th edition, creating a powerful platform for collective action.
On October 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., leaders, activists, policymakers, and grassroots women will gather at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja to strategise, connect, and drive change.
Themed “Nigerian Women & The Power of Collective Action,” this year’s conference places women at the centre of political leadership conversations, while also highlighting the role of men as allies in strengthening democracy. Beyond being a gathering, the event is designed as a movement that seeks to shift systems, challenge barriers, and create pathways for women in leadership.

Organised annually by the Voice of Women Empowerment Foundation, the conference has grown into Nigeria’s foremost convening of women leaders, policymakers, and development actors united in shaping inclusive policies.
According to the organisation, “the conference will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chats, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.”
The 2025 edition will spotlight grassroots mobilisation as a critical tool to increase the number of women elected and appointed to governance roles ahead of the 2027 elections. Through plenary sessions, workshops, storytelling, and policy dialogues, participants will explore solutions to systemic challenges while strengthening networks between grassroots women, civil society, and institutions.
Among the distinguished speakers are Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim; former Deputy President of South Africa, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka; women’s rights advocate Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi; as well as Sherifat Taleat, Hansatu Adegbite, and Funmilola Paseda Oladoyinbo.
Together, they will anchor discussions that frame women’s empowerment not just as inclusion, but as a driving force for national development.
The awards ceremony will recognise women making landmark contributions across business, politics, education, health, and social activism spotlighting achievements that inspire others to lead and transform society.
As the 2025 edition approaches, VOW continues to stand as more than just a conference. It is a rallying point for women’s empowerment, with thought-provoking sessions and collective action set to shape Nigeria’s democratic future and drive the vision of a more equitable society.
