Wunmi, the late wife of popular singer Mohbad, has revealed in an interview that she is currently facing threats from her father-in-law and bullying from Naira Marley and his cohorts.
Wunmi Aloba, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has accused her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, of attempting to seize control of her late husband’s assets while making degrading remarks about their son, Liam.
In an emotional interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo released on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, Wunmi disclosed that she receives daily death threats and no longer feels safe amid the ongoing dispute over Mohbad’s estate and the controversy surrounding her son’s paternity.
“My father-in-law wanted to be in control of my husband’s properties, and he would literally go all out to destroy my life. He has been chastising Liam so much. He says my son has bow legs and that no one in their family has such. He even said that Liam’s face is older than his, and he is almost 60,” she said.
Wunmi further claimed that Joseph accused Mohbad of wanting to harm their son. “He went as far as saying that Mohbad wanted to throw our son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge.”
Since Mohbad’s sudden death in Sep. 2023, Wunmi has been at the centre of a heated dispute with the late singer’s family. Joseph has repeatedly demanded a DNA test to confirm Liam’s paternity, a request that has fueled further controversy.
“I have been making it clear that I’m ready to do the DNA test, but he was saying that once I do it, I shouldn’t make the results known to the public,” Wunmi said.
Beyond the property battle and paternity dispute, Wunmi expressed concerns for her safety.
“My son and I no longer feel safe. I receive threats on my social media handles every day, and it has reached a point where I either speak up or suffer in silence. I have been attacked by Naira Marley, his cohorts, his supporters, and my father-in-law,” she stated.
Joseph recently claimed that he became suspicious about Liam’s paternity when two of Mohbad’s friends revealed during the coroner’s inquest that the child was a source of conflict between the late singer and Wunmi. He also stated that Wunmi never allowed him or Mohbad access to Liam’s placenta.
Despite the controversy, Wunmi insists she is only seeking justice for her late husband and the safety of their son. She also refuted claims that she was never married to Mohbad, stating that Joseph himself initiated the marriage and was the happiest about it at the time.
