Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State has been named the world’s best in English at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, outperforming over 20,000 students from 69 countries.
Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu has been crowned the world’s best in English language skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College, Yobe, Nafisa outperformed more than 20,000 students from 69 countries, including native English-speaking nations, to claim the prestigious title. The international competition tested students in key areas such as comprehension, grammar, and public communication.
Nafisa’s remarkable achievement was announced in a statement by Hassan Salifu, head of the Aminu family, who attributed her success to “dedication, discipline, and the enabling support of the Yobe State government.”
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” the statement reads.
In reaction to her win, Nigeria’s former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Pantami, called on the government to reward Nafisa with $100,000, a house, and a national honour (OON) in recognition of her outstanding global feat.
“In addition, her English teacher deserves a reward similar to the one given to the coaching and technical team of the football and basketball players. We must continue to take education very seriously and reward the efforts of our citizens,” he said.
Prof. Isa Pantami noted that education is the passport to future development, as tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it through learning and skills.
