A Nigerian X (formerly Twitter) user, Nwaeze Tochukwu, popularly known as Nwaeze Oyibo, has issued a public apology to Oyeyemi Evelyn, known on X as Princess eve, after making false claims about her on social media.

The controversy began after Mr Telvin shared a photo of himself and Princess Eve on X, celebrating their relationship. Shortly after, Nwaeze made a post saying that Oyeyemi was his “mutual” in 2023, claiming that he had slept with her and paid her. He further warned Mr Telvin to “abort the mission” before it was too late.

The post sparked widespread backlash and reportedly exposed Oyeyemi to online bullying, threats, mockery, and even doxxing. Following the incident, legal steps were reportedly taken by the affected parties. Nwaeze was reportedly arrested, after which he issued a public apology.

In the apology post shared on X, Nwaeze admitted that his comments about Oyeyemi were untrue. He stated that he never had a sexual relationship with her and did not pay her for any such encounter, as he previously claimed.

“I, Nwaeze Tochukwu, made a comment on Twitter about Oyeyemi Evelyn. I am here to debunk my comment that it is false. I did not sleep with her, and I did not pay her,” he wrote.

He further apologised for the emotional distress caused to Oyeyemi and her family, as well as to Mr Telvin, Oyeyemi’s fiancé, whom he had also falsely accused. Nwaeze also claimed that the apology was made voluntarily and not under duress, describing it as an attempt to correct the harm caused by his actions.

This is not the first time Nwaeze has spread defamatory statements and lies about women on social media. He has a pattern of making damaging claims against women, particularly when they post photos related to relationships or marriage.

In a similar incident, Nwaeze defamed another X user, Mizel, after she shared photos from her traditional marriage ceremony. He falsely claimed that he knew her and that she had sex with three men at the same time in Awka.

Mizel has since stated that she intends to pursue legal action against him, citing reputational damage caused by the viral posts.
