Summary: The family of Deborah Moses is calling for justice and public support as her murder case comes up for hearing at the Magistrate’s Court in Yaba. They are urging that the case be transferred to the High Court to ensure proper accountability.
The family of Deborah Moses has appealed for justice and public support as the case concerning her death comes up for hearing today, January 30, 2026, at the Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos.
Deborah was killed on the night of September 3, 2025, by her ex-boyfriend, Lintex Ogale, after she ended their relationship due to his violent behaviour. According to the family, she had stopped all communication with him over a year before her death, but continued to receive threats.
He gained access to Deborah’s residence by posing as a dispatch rider to deceive estate security. When questioned, he reportedly scaled the fence into the compound, forced his way into her apartment and killed her. He has been arrested and remains on remand.
Despite the severity of the crime, the case is still before the Magistrate’s Court and has not yet been transferred to the High Court.
Speaking to Naija Feminists Media, Deborah’s sister, Hope Moses, described the loss as painful and unjust, stating that Deborah was a successful interior designer with two degrees whose life was cut short by a jealous ex-partner.
“We hope the case will be moved to the High Court of Justice today rather than being adjourned,” she said.
The family is urging the court to transfer the case to the High Court and is calling on activists and members of the public to stand with them through advocacy and attendance as they seek justice.
