Women dominated academic excellence at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Faculty of Law, emerging as top performers across several core law courses in the 2025 graduating class.

Roliat Olasile Yinusa stood out as the Best Student in Land Law and Law of Evidence, earning four major awards: the Dr Teslim Elias Prize, the Prof. Imran Smith, SAN Prize, the Late Prof. Jelili Omotola, SAN Prize, and the Distinguished Prof. Taiwo Osipitan, SAN Prize.

Oluwatamilore Kanyinsola Oniroso was recognised as Best Student in Law of Jurisprudence and received the Dr Teslim Elias Prize alongside the Dr Arinola Aguda Oluwo Prize for her academic excellence.

Maryam Oriyomi Awesu also recorded an outstanding performance, emerging as Best Student in Law of Conveyancing. She was awarded the Chief Chris Ogunbanjo & Co Prize, the Late Prof. Jelili Omotola, SAN Prize, and the Prof. Imran Smith, SAN Prize.

Further highlighting women’s academic leadership, Mercy Uzor Orwumabua topped multiple courses, including Company Law, Constitutional Law, and Conflict of Laws. Her honours include the Chief Chris Ogunbanjo & Co Prize, Dr Teslim Elias Prize, Babs Mobolaji Williams Prize, and the Emeritus Prof. Isaac Oluwale Agbede Prize.

Celebrating their achievement, the Faculty of Law, UNILAG, shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), 

“The Faculty proudly congratulates our outstanding students who emerged as award winners. Stand up for the Champions!!!” the post read.

The achievements of these graduates demonstrate women’s continued dominance in intellectual rigour.
