Summary: Facebook user QueenLemmy Williams publicly defended Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye after a male commenter insulted her. Her response highlighted online misogyny and showed support for successful women.

A Facebook user, QueenLemmy Williams, publicly defended Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye after a male social media user, Ayo Ayorinde, posted a misogynistic comment under a post celebrating the actress. In his post, he wrote:

ā€œThey have passed their prime time, they are emotionally and physically exhausted,ā€ while referring to the actress as a ā€˜leftover.’

The remark prompted QueenLemmy to respond with a strongly worded defence. In her post, she criticised what she called a pattern of men targeting successful women online with negative and disrespectful comments.

ā€œYou know, sometimes when people say ā€˜women are the enemies of fellow women,’ I honestly laugh,ā€ she wrote. ā€œThe most hateful comments I’ve seen towards women online don’t come from other women; they come from men like you, Mr Ayo.ā€

She continued, defending the actress’s achievements and character: ā€œBimbo Ademoye is the kind of woman who oozes class, beauty, grace, and talent. You are online disrespecting her while she continues to shine and achieve.ā€

QueenLemmy also addressed the broader issue of online misogyny: ā€œMen like you are the reason I stopped believing that women are the problem, because clearly, it’s some of you men who hate to see powerful women win.ā€

The post quickly gained attention, drawing reactions from other users about the misogyny, digital harassment and the broader treatment of women in public life. Bimbo Ademoye, known for her versatility and strong presence in Nollywood, continues to enjoy commercial success and a growing fan base with her latest movie, Where Love Lives, currently showing on YouTube.
