- Mercy Johnson-Okojie Joins Edo Government as Special Adviser on Public Engagement
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Nollywood actress and philanthropist, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy. The appointment was announced in a statement issued on February 19, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor.
Mercy Johnson is expected to leverage her public influence, communication expertise and grassroots reach to strengthen citizens’ engagement with government policies and programmes across Edo State.
- Bolaji Eniola Becomes First African World No. 1 in Women’s SL3 Para-Badminton
Nigeria’s Bolaji Eniola has made history by becoming the first-ever African to be ranked World No. 1 in the women’s SL3 category of para-badminton. The announcement came following her performances at the 2026 World Para Badminton Championship in Bahrain, according to the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) on February 17, 2026.

The Taliban has introduced a new criminal code in Afghanistan that allows domestic violence as long as it does not cause visible injuries. The law weakens protections for women and replaces previous legislation that criminalised gender-based abuse.

Naija Feminists Media stands in unwavering solidarity with Mirabel, who was raped in her own home in the morning on the 15th of February, 2025. Following the assault, the perpetrator reportedly sent Mirabel a message on TikTok referencing her refusal to give him her phone number and rejecting his advances.
NFM called on the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs to monitor this case and provide immediate legal and psychosocial support alongside civil society organisations.
